Is It Hard To Become a Hot Air Balloon Pilot?

Given the different requirements that you have to complete, becoming a hot air balloon pilot is generally considered pretty hard. For example, in the United States, you have to obtain a student license, private license, and commercial license.

The commercial license is the most difficult to earn and you should secure a private hot air balloon certification before you can get this license. Other requirements include 35 hours of flight time as a pilot (20 hours in balloons).

You willhave to take 10 flights with an instructor and have two flights as the pilot. You also need one flight to 3,000 feet above the take-off point.

The level of difficulty also depends on several other factors. These include your finances, prior flying experience, personality, and availability. You’ll have to create a budget for training fees and equipment.

It takes a lot of time and energy to be a hot air balloon pilot, but if it's what you want, you should stay dedicated and persistent to obtain your license.
